Mr. Omair Sohail belongs to Kotli, District of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He was born on October 18, 1993 and acquired his initial schooling from Army Public School and College System Muzaffarabad. Afterwards, he enrolled in the Model Science College Muzaffarabad for Intermediate scholarship and was accepted by the Sheikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law, LUMS in its BA-LLB program. Since his school days, Mr. Omair Sohail has been consummately focused on competing in debate competitions. His time at LUMS was a progression of that passion. Recently he has won the Justice Project Pakistan Moot Court Competition 2014 in which he was awarded with the Best Advocate Prize and he has also represented LUMS at the ICRC Moot 2015. He served as the Campus Ambassador of Teach for Pakistan which equipped him with a hands on experience of the governmental and non-governmental education system of Pakistan and an awareness of the flaws that plague this system. He has drafted research papers for Law school grappling with statutory frameworks of several legislations and critiqued their shortcomings. Recently, he has critiqued the upcoming Prevention of Electronic Crimes Bill 2015. This Bill has several shortcomings regarding the protection provided to investigative journalism and right to free speech. |
